Programs

 

Opening Reception ($3,000). We kick off the conference with our Opening Reception—an engaging gathering where we delve into the weekend's theme through brief lectures, discussions, and an opportunity for attendees to meet and greet. This event offers a mental space to align our focus with the conference's objectives while relishing the pleasure of reconnecting with familiar faces and making new acquaintances. It's a time to set the tone for an enriching conference experience.


Delgado Luncheon ($3,000). The Delgado Luncheon, named in honor of Dr. Andrea Delgado, MD, Past-President, and Founder of the Transcultural Conference in 1978, is a distinguished event within our conference program. At the heart of this luncheon is the Delgado Lecturer, carefully selected to address a pressing issue that significantly influences Black Mental Health. This distinguished lecturer takes center stage, offering vital insights and expertise, making it a pivotal highlight of our conference.


Dunn's River Falls Catamaran Ride ($3,000). It's a time for enjoyment and camaraderie! During our visit to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, we plan to explore the iconic Dunn's River Falls, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region, immersing ourselves in Jamaica's vibrant culture and scenery. We'd like to offer you the opportunity for your company to share insights about your product during a relaxed lunch session before we begin our adventure. This provides an exclusive platform to engage directly with conference attendees, ensuring their undivided attention during our outing.


Awards Dinner ($3,000). The Awards Dinner serves as the culminating event of the Transcultural Conference. During this dinner, we conduct an annual organization-wide review featuring addresses by the President and Executive Director. We also unveil our plans for the forthcoming year, outlining the strategic direction for the Black Psychiatrists of America. It's a moment to celebrate the Transcultural Conference's successful conclusion and enjoy fellowship with our esteemed colleagues.


Hospital Visit ($2,500). We aim to visit Kingston, Jamaica's public hospital, and analyze its service delivery compared to the United States. We will focus on their approach to treating serious mental illnesses by conducting comprehensive facility tours. Our investigation will encompass both acute care options and long-term care alternatives for patients with serious mental illnesses (SMIs).
